Mandala Practice 03 – Power

This video is my third official Mandala for my Mandala practice I started a few weeks ago.

Watch it on Youtube or Vimeo

Mandalas have intrigued me for a few years. They look intricate and complicated to create. Kathryn Costa’s “The Mandala Guidebook” has opened the door for me to start creating mandalas simply, without worrying too much about precision, measurements or purpose.

Since I started my Mandala practice, I have been looking for more inspiration. I found it by signing up to Julie Gibbons free online class “5 Days of Mandala Magic” (available to view until 2nd December 2016), and this amazing and truly mesmerising class has opened my eyes to all the endless possibilities the Mandala offers on a creative side, even when starting with the same layout, as well on a symbolic and spiritual side. I was so deeply touched by Julie’s message and work, I decided to sign up to her yearly class 2017 Mandala Magic, starting on 5th December 2016. Needless to say, I just cannot wait to start my guided Mandala journey…

  • Daler-Rowney Manga Pad paper, specially designed for marker use
  • compas
  • HB graphite pencil
  • Letraset Promarkers in Neon Electric Pink, Bright Green, Black, Almond, Cool Grey 3, Salmon Pink, Cool Grey 4, Pale Pink, Buttercup, Ginger, Orchid
  • Letraset Promarker blender
  • Letraset Metallic Marker in Violet, Red Gold, Gold
  • Posca paint pen in white

I did not plan anything for creating this Mandala, apart from the fact that I wanted a face in the middle. No measuring on that one, I just wanted to keep it easy and free.

The whole process of creating this Mandala came naturally and the feel of the girl in the Mandala gave me the title, “Power”.

I hope you enjoy this video.
